Description
The Great Sphinx of Giza lies on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile River. Representing the mythological creature with the head of a human and body of a lion, the Sphinx was created circa 2550 BC during the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt. The Great Sphinx is approximately 240 ft. long, 66 ft. high and is the oldest monumental sculpture in Egypt.
